Nurul I have stripe enabled but if a seller does not have stripe activated they cannot sell their items even though they have PayPal as a payment method. I get this error message This seller has not configured his Stripe payment gateway and the product can not be purchased! Why can seller just accept PayPal payments even though PayPal adaptive payment is enabled. Not everyone will want to use stripe. Any solutions around this?

Hello Nurul,

You must use the strip payment method. There is no other way and this is the rules.

Thanks

hi towhid bhai,

This seems a little restrictive. Can it not be updated to allow both paypal and stripe to be used at the same time?

why a private response, I am needing an answer to this too?

Do I have to choose between paypal or stripe?

Should I just use Paypal and disable stripe?

Thank you

Hello David,

All other payment methods must work if you do not enable stripe. But if you enable stripe you must open an account on the stripe and set the account details in the stripe settings field in the Dokan Strip addon.

Thanks

hi towhid bhai,

I know you mentioned that this is the rules, but is there no way to change the rules to let sellers accept both stripe and paypal?

Hello Nurul,

Yes, there are a way. A seller must set both payment information from the payment settings page. Then a customer will select the payment method and payment will be done.

Thanks

This is not a response i was hoping for Towhid Bhai.

So the site is disabled because one seller prefers to use Paypal instead of Stripe. There needs to be a fix that allows the sellers to choose paypal or stripe but both need to work side by side. If stripe is not enabled then the buyer should only get option to pay via paypal rather than stripe. if stripe is enabled and set up then buyer should get option to pay with stripe or paypal. I would have expected this to be standard in a marketplace.

Hello Nurul,

What Towhid meant to say that, if you choose to use Stripe, then you should talk to your sellers before doing it. You can not just buy a plugin and activate on your marketplace without your sellers opinion. You should add a new payment gateway, only if majority of the sellers agree. Because PayPal Adaptive and Stripe is directly connected to the sellers. But if you you activate a payment gateway like Skrill, which has nothing to do with the sellers, you can do it right away. No need to take opinion from anyone. If it seems profitable, then go for it.

If you activate Stripe, the seller will always see a message to activate the payment gateway for his store. That’s all. Nothing will stop working. If you are having any issue, please be specific about that.

But imagine, a customer has 3 different products from 3 different stores; 2 of the sellers have stripe activated and 1 does not. In that case, either the customer has to remove the product from the cart or choose a different payment gateway.

In our studies of customer behavior, we have seen that most of the customers abandons cart in-case of any problem in the cart page or checkout page. Which will lose you sales. So we decided to force the sellers.

We will be testing PayPal and Stripe payment gateways later this month to check the compatibility with their current API and make them more efficient and user friendly. We are open to any kind of suggestion.

Thank you

Salam Sekander bhai,

Thank you for your input. I have not rolled out Stripe to live site. It is still in testing phase as most sellers wanted the option to accept payment by credit card / stripe for its lower fees and also ease of payment on the site.

I am glad to hear that you will look at the payment gateways. I think giving both option to sellers would be ideal. Although stripe has lower fees, in the UK it does only allow withdrawal every 7 days, which is not ideal for some sellers.

I know its difficult to have 2 payment gateways on 1 checkout if the user purchases from multiple sellers using different payment options: which option will they have on checkout? i think this is something that should be considered.

It would be great if we could have a scenario where Dokan can check:

1. If all sellers whose products have been added to cart are using /activated the both payment gateways i.e. Stripe and PayPal. If so, then allow user to chose which option to pay with : Stripe or PayPal.

2. If from the sellers whose products have been added to cart, one seller has paypal activated and the other has both paypal and Stripe, the only give option to pay using the most common gateway, in this case it would be paypal. But if one seller has paypal but both have stripe, then the common gateway is Stripe, only allow payment via stripe.

I do not know if it can be done, but if it can be done then it would be great.
