Neen Monty I am testing the theme and find that shipping is only charged once, even when orders are from multiple stores. It would seem to me that the default behaviour should be that if items are ordered from separate stores, each store's shipping amount should be added on. I would consider that shipping is only charged once to be a bug, that should be addressed. Can this be fixed? How long would it take? I have seen your per product shipping add-on, but I find the documentation is not good, and I'm not sure it will serve my purpose. I simply want each store's shipping charge to be added into an order, when a customer orders from multiple stores. thanks much Janine

I have been reading the forums on shipping, and your recommendation is to buy they Per Product Shipping add on.

I’m very happy to do that, if it solves my problems. The documentation isn’t very clear though, on what it exactly does. Also, I don’t really need per product shipping, I need per shop shipping, if that makes sense?

Ideally I would like to, for each shop, set up shipping thus:

1-4 products shipping cost = $8/
4-8 products shipping cost = $12
8+ products shipping FREE

And for each shop to be able to set their own conditions as such. Is this possible with the Per Product Shipping add on?

thanks much for your advice.

Hello Neen,

That will not be possible currently with Per product Shipping add-on as it requires much more complex conditional logics. We will keep this suggestion in mind for new update release.

Thanks. I understand that it won’t do what I would ideally would like. But can you please explain what per product shipping actually DOES do? the next best thing to the scenario I describe above is that each shop can charge their own shipping rate. Eg. shop1 charges $12 for shipping. Shop2 charges $10 for shipping. And if a customer orders from each store, the invoice should charge $12 and $10 respectively. Can per product shipping do that?

Could you just please explain what per product shipping is used for, how it was envisaged to be used. Because I don’t want to charge a separate shipping price for each product. Just for each store. It seems wrong that DOkan, being designed as a multi store theme, doesn’t charge a shipping amount for each store ordered from. So could you please explain the logic? And if possible where in the code I might make these changes. (I have some Php experience)

thanks much

if you have product a from seller x shipping cost = 10$
and product b from seller y shipping cost = 10$

the pre product shipping will display the total of both so the total cost of shipping will be 20$ 10$ for each seller

No, it doesn’t work that way. Dokan only charges shipping once, for one shop. The other shop has shipping added to the invoice, but it is not actually charged for. (when it should be). So if a customer orders from two stores, the customer only pays one lot of shipping, which obviously is not good.

Like I said, that doesn’t explain clearly what per product shipping does. I see that you can charge different shipping amounts per product for different areas. BUT I am told (and several posts are told) to use this add on as a solution to my problem, that is, shipping is only charged ONCE, regardless of how many stores are ordered from.

So, to be clear, can the add on fix my problem of shipping only being charged once?

Also, is the shipping per product cummulative? e.g. if you charge $5.00 to ship product A, and charge $6.00 for product B, will the shipping amount be $11? (from the same store). Because I would expect in my store that people will order multiple products, and I just want a FLAT rate of shipping. And I want each store to charge for shipping separately.

I’m sorry, this is a simple question that has gotten confused. Just could you please tell me, yes or no, if the per product add on will fix this, and how it works IN FULL. The documentation doesn’t explain much at all.

thanks

Sorry for inconvenience. This is how per product shipping works:

admin settings:

– you can enable per seller or per item.

1. Per seller:
– If you order multiple products from same store then shipping cost pick up the highest amount.

ex: product A shipping cost $10
Product B shipping cost $20

If a buyer want to buy both products then his total shipping will show: $20, NOT $30

– When per seller option enable, if buyer buy multiple products from different sellers then it calculates shipping cost separately.

2. Per item:

When per item option enabled, then it will calculate on per item. It will not a fact buyer buy products from same seller or not.

ex: product A shipping cost $10
Product B shipping cost $20

Total shipping cost: $30

hope it clears you all now?
