WordPress native functions handles the file/picture upload and there is no way of having the same file name after uploaded, they are automatically renamed. And also, WPUF doesn’t store file names, it stores the attachment ID to reference the correct image. So I will suggest to recheck about the problem.

Hi Tareq,
can you please tell me which hook or filter I need to use to change the name before upload?
cause the german language got some special charachters.
maybe I take the timestamp to store the image.
thanks for helping.

There isn’t any available filters, so you can’t change the names.

I was looking for a way to rename the uploaded filenames.
sometimes user upload filse like

“öäü pl?§ name.jpg”

This is what I wanted to change. With that plugin “File Renaming on upload”.
the image names will be renamed to…

“myDomainname_dateTime.jpg”

Thats it.

Cheers,
Denis

ps you can close this threat if you want.
