PayPal Adaptive Payments Questions

Nayem Hi there, I have a few questions regarding PayPal Adaptive payments. First of all, from what I gather from research, would I be correct in saying that will parallel payments, the customer would pay the seller (vendor) who would be the primary receiver and the selling fee would then be paid to me as the site owner, as the next receiver? What happens when it is me that is the primary receiver, when I'm selling something on the site, how would that work as I would then be primary receiver and secondary receiver of selling fee? Also, when a seller issues a refund via PayPal, is the selling fee automatically deducted from my account and passed on to the customer? I assume that when using adaptive payments, the option to withdraw would be disabled on the sellers dashboard?

I have already read that Nayem, that’s why I am asking these questions, the document does not cover these points.

In parallel payments, it mentions nothing about who the primary receiver is. It states ”A parallel payment is a payment from a sender that is split directly among 2 receivers” but who is the primary receiver?

It also mentioned nothing about refunds.

Hi there,

Ok so after hours and hours of figuring things out all by myself as quite frankly, Dokan support seems to be less than useful and the guide you directed me to contains minimal amount of information, I had to search elsewhere for more detailed instructions. Anyway, I have finally managed to set up PayPal Adaptive parallel payments.

However, upon testing, I can see that this is simply splitting the payment and sending it to two or more receivers, no-one is the primary receiver.

Two payments show up in the buyers paypal account, one to the seller and one to me the admin,

How do I make it so that the payment goes to the seller as the primary receiver and then the commission to me the seller as the secondary receiver.

P.S: It would be good to get a faster response as I’m trying to run a business here and the response time seems like it has not improved since the last time I needed ”help”.

Also, I have some more questions,

When seller refunds a payment, is the selling fee (commission) automatically deducted from my paypal account or do I also need to manually refund the buyer?

Furthermore, how do I set it up so that only the seller pays the paypal fee?

If all of this was explained in the documentation, I would not need to wait so long on a response which causes huge delays and hold ups for me.

Another worry is that the buyer can still open a dispute against me over the selling fee commission they paid to me.

This is far from a sustainable solution.

Let me tell you what I need and maybe you can explained what I need to use or do to achieve this, it’s very simple:

Customer checks out, the seller is the primary receiver and payment goes to them, the selling fee (commission) goes to me as the secondary receiver. The primary receiver (seller) pays the paypal fee.

When seller issues a refund to customer, my selling fee is automatically deducted and credited back to the buyer with it.

I need a response as soon as possible, there is no phone support, live chat or nothing, just a forum, it’s pretty ludicrous. I’m on a very tight schedule and cannot be wasting time waiting on you to respond.

Hello,

I am really sorry for the inconvenience. Our office time is 10 AM to 7 PM (GMT+6). We always reply to our all customer within our office time, but we know that the time zone is fact.

For PayPal adaptive – If you are using chained payment then you have to make sure that your seller has valid PayPal account and they inserted their PayPal email correctly. When you will use the stripe and PayPal adaptive both payment gateway at a time then your seller will have to insert their both details in their dashboard.

Stripe: If your seller connected their stripe account correctly then there should be no error. Please make sure that your sellers are connected and if you are using live mode then from the stripe configure you have to select the mode to live.

Now please let me know if everything is correctly done.

Hi there,

Ok, I understand. However, currently, I only have paypal adapative payments activated on the site, I have also double checked the paypal address and it is still not working.

The paypal address is definitely correct as it is working with parallel payments, I’m only getting this error message when I switch to chained.
