Coupon Settings – Commission on coupon price not base price

Towhid, can you explain coupons functionality for me?

If i get 50% of comission, and seller makes a huge promotion. like, 60% discount. What will be the output?

if we get the comission from the original price, there is no use for coupons. Imagine the original price is £10 and we take 30% comission, and a 50% discount. Buyer will pay $5, i will get $3 and seller just $2?

We have had to disable the coupons because their functionality looks unprofessional and makes customers think we are taking too much money for them. I don’t know any other site that takes commission from the original price, it should take it from the price the item is sold at, including when a coupon is used, so I would love an explanation of their functionality too.

Hello Sordi,

In every sales, you can cut a commission from a order based on total amount deduct with the discount offer by coupon. If the original price is £10, commission set for seller is 50% and coupon is 60%. Then the summation will be :

Product Original Price = £10
apply coupon = 60%
—————————-
Total = £6

Commission will be distributed among admin £3 and seller £3.

Towhid, that is how it should work but it doesn’t work that way, unfortunately.

Product original price = £10
apply coupon = 50%
commission = 15%
Total = £5

Commission taken = £1.50 (15% of original £10)
Seller receives = £3.50

So instead of the advertised 15% we are taking 30% in this scenario, which is why we had to disable the coupons as we were taking more commission than advertised.

According to my summary. Calculation will be:

Product original price = £10
apply coupon = 50%
commission = 15%
Total = £5

Commission taken = £0.75 (15% of original £5)
Seller receives = £4.25

***But are you not getting this way right?

Yes, that’s what we assumed but instead the commission comes from the original £10 (we only realised after about 10 sales and the same thing happened on each one), so it takes £1.50, which is why we have had to take the coupons down.

Without the coupon on a £10 product with a 50% coupon discount and 15% commission we receive £1.50 (which is correct).

With the coupon we also receive £1.50 (it doesn’t matter what % the coupon discount is because the commission is taken from the original price).

If the coupon offers a 50% discount so the product becomes £5 we should only receive £0.75 and NOT £1.50 which is what we are receiving.

One of the real examples:

Customer bought 2 products, each £6.50, total = £13.00.

Coupon discount 50% so the customer paid £6.50.

We then received £1.95 in commission (15% of £13), we should have only have received £0.98 (15% of £6.50).

Seller received £4.55 but SHOULD have received £5.52.
