WPUF – User Directory Block

A- A+

The User Directory Block in WP User Frontend allows you to display a directory of your site’s registered users directly inside the Gutenberg editor. This makes it easy to showcase users, their profiles, and related information on any page or post.

Steps to Add the User Directory Block

1. Create or Open a Page

  • From your WordPress dashboard, go to Pages → Add New.
  • Alternatively, edit an existing page where you want the User Directory to appear.

2. Insert the Block

  • Inside the Gutenberg editor, click on the ➕ Add Block button.
  • In the block search bar, type “WPUF – User Directory”.
  • Select WPUF – User Directory from the list of available WPUF blocks.

3. Configure the Block

When you add the User Directory block, you will be asked to pick a layout for showing users. You can choose from options like Round Grids, Square Grids, Sidecards, or Wide Sidecards. The selected layout will load users in that style, and you can change it anytime.

Right now, directories made with the setup wizard can’t be used in the block, but this will be added in the next update.

This setup lets you control how the directory looks and fits your site’s design, with easy layout choices, style settings, and access rules.

Adjusting Layout, Search, and Sorting Options

After inserting the User Directory block and choosing a layout, you can further customize how the directory looks and works from the parent block settings. These settings are designed to give you full control over what users see and how they interact with the directory.

From the sidebar, you can:

  • Roles – Select which user roles to display in the directory.
  • Exclude Users – Hide specific users or roles if you don’t want them shown.
  • Profiles per Page – Control how many profiles are visible before pagination kicks in.
  • Search Options – Enable or disable search, and set a placeholder text for the search box.
  • Sorting Options – Choose how users are ordered (by name, ID, date, etc.) and set ascending or descending order.
  • Profile URL Base – Define the base URL for profile links to ensure users are redirected correctly.

For a better viewing experience, you can also adjust the container layout, sidebar layout, and container style to match your site’s design. Options like Default, Unboxed, or Boxed allow you to fine-tune how the directory is presented, while sidebar settings help you decide whether to include filters or keep the view simple.

This combination of layout, search, and sorting controls ensures your user directory is not only visually appealing but also functional and easy for visitors to navigate.
